Friday the 13th

October is the perfect time to tell Spooky stories, especially a Friday the 13th in October. A great website to use is American Folklore by S.E Schlosser. A couple of my favorites on that site are Axe Murder Hollow and Bloody Mary Returns.

If you are curious about why we think of Friday the 13th as an unlucky day, Snopes has the history.

Some more stories like the one I might have told your class can be found here— these are called Robber Bridegroom stories.  Or you might have heard of Bluebeard. These are all folktales, stories passed down from generation to generation.

And if you want to find spooky stories to tell your friends, we have a variety of books in the library– check the folklore section.
